Enjoy some short films selected by one of our cultural partners in West: West’ival. A series of short movies will be on show in the indoor West’ival Cinema, next to the Lobby space.
During the smashing opening of WOW, West’ival will present a program of short films from France, The Netherlands, Argentine and the United Kingdom. Discover this young artists and filmmakers on 21 June in WOW!
1.
Light Motif (France) is an experimental computer graphics short film directed by Frédéric Bonpapa with beautiful music by Steve Reich.
Light Motif is conceived as a synaesthetic experience based on a visual transposition of music for 18 musicians, section II, by American composer Steve Reich. The ambition of the film is to cinematically capture the extraordinary life force that animates this essential work of contemporary music, by offering a true hypnotic experience where music is to be seen.

DECISIVE (United Kingdom) is a short movie directed by: Roman Rappak, on the struggles of a photographer, in search of his perfect picture.

TAPE GENERATION (Netherlands) is a short movie directed and produced by Johan Rijpma on large groups of tape rolls that go through a long process of development and degeneration. (Selected Dutch Shorts Eye Film Institute Netherlands).

‘Met excuses voor het ongemak’ (Netherlands), is directed by Eva Zanen. Van Zanen graduated from the Dutch Filmacademie with this film in 2013.
‘Met excuses voor het ongemak’ is a tragicomic vintage-film about neat people who simply are supposed to be doing ‘well’, searching for a glimmer of humanity.

Luminaris (Argentine) is directed by Juan Pablo Zaramella. In a world controlled and timed by light, a common man has a plan that could change destiny.

REULF (France) is directed by Quentin Carnicelli, Jean-François Jego, Charles Klipfel. In a black & white Paris, little creatures with paintbrush decide to brighten up the city…

Coast to Coast
The film charts a special road trip across America, in which O’Brien comes into contact with a handful of inspirational individuals and captures moments of all-American beauty. O’Brien’s archive of work – some of it sun-bleached and spiritual, some gritty and raw – always takes you to a new place and this is no exception.
